Call for Applications: Founding Director of Development (Independent Contractor)
The American Homebrewers Association is seeking an experienced fundraising professional to serve as the Founding Director of Development for the newly established A-Ha Foundation.
This independent contractor will help build the Foundation’s fundraising program from the ground up. Working with Foundation leadership, the contractor will assess fundraising opportunities, develop an initial strategy and roadmap, identify prospective donors and partners, and lead implementing the highest-priority initiatives.
The A-Ha Foundation was established to advance the educational, charitable, and scientific work of the American Homebrewers Association through fermentation education, preservation of brewing heritage, research, and charitable resources that strengthen the homebrewing community. This is a part-time independent contractor position.
What the Contractor Will Do
The selected contractor will:
- Assess the Foundation’s fundraising readiness and opportunities
- Develop its initial fundraising strategy and implementation roadmap
- Recommend priorities for individual giving, major gifts, grants, corporate partnerships, sponsorships, campaigns, and other opportunities
- Build an initial prospect pipeline
- Begin implementing the highest-value fundraising initiatives
- Recommend systems and practices for donor management, reporting, and stewardship
- Serve as a public advocate via authoring articles and promoting the foundation on social media.
The Foundation’s 2026 goal is to secure approximately $ 40,000 in new charitable contributions while establishing the relationships, systems, and strategy needed for long-term fundraising success.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have experience in nonprofit development and several areas of fundraising, such as strategy, grant writing, individual giving, major gifts, corporate partnerships, campaign development, and donor stewardship.
Experience building a fundraising program is strongly preferred. Experience with membership organizations, educational nonprofits, museums, scientific organizations, food and beverage organizations, or historical organizations is helpful but not required. A passion for homebrewing is welcome, but it is not a prerequisite.
